Some memories from Alex

Looking back, I feel like I spent a large part of my teenage years practically living at Meadow Cottage - and I always felt like I could call it my second home. I don't think I'm the only person that felt like that - I remember frequent role playing days where Adrienne would cook for a giant group of hungry people. I didn't just feel welcome at the house though. I have so many happy memories of visiting places and travelling with Jack, Adrienne and Hannah. My first experiences of folk music and numerous folk festivals were with the Coutts. Whenever I think of Adrienne, there is always music. Whether singing in the car, playing music, or listening to it. I had my first trips to France and Germany with the Coutts - trips that made me realise how much I enjoyed speaking other languages. Through Adrienne, Hannah and I had the chance to teach French at St Francis and went on a school trip to France with Adrienne and the school. I remember learning new words (sometimes made up), being introduced to Harry Potter (I devoured the first couple of books at Warwick folk festival, much to Hannah's annoyment!), mince pies, counting Christmas trees, hundreds of books, the green velvet flares she made for me (Hannah's were black I think), avoiding the fiveways roundabout, fitting 4 people in the back of a mini, an undefeatable outlook on life, and a strength that I was aware of, but didn't know the reasons for at the time. I consider myself incredibly lucky to have known her.
